Capturing this cabaret tour de force in 2014-16

I was lucky enough to be able to document The Miss Behave GameShow six times from 2014 to 2016, and let me tell you it was a TREAT. Not just because the show was great and they had different guest performers every time, but learning the mechanics of how it all worked was so interesting.

I loved capturing liminal spaces like backstage, taking a peek behind the curtain, it’s just fascinating to me. I have a fly on the wall style and being able to apply it to two very different settings so closely tied was amazing.

Seeing the show a bunch of times it became clear that a big part of the performance was leading by example, setting the tone and giving the punters permission to let their hair down. Demanding it, even!

I took a lot of my love for dramatic lighting from stage lighting capturing these shows and a few others on the Edinburgh Fringe so the experience was pretty formative for me.

They also used my photo for the cover of the brochure for Birmingham SHOUT Festival 2016 which was neat! I hear the show can mainly be found in Vegas and on Virgin cruises at the moment, but here’s a link to Harry’s website and another to Miss Behave’s website .
